Staff

Currently, the agency has a Board of Directors, five staff persons including Executive Director Julie M. Hankins, Administrative Assistant/"Reaching Out" Breast Health Coordinator/Events Coordinator Denise M. Hurt, Education/Client Services Coordinator Cheryl L. Mathews, Client Services Advocate ShriVonne Newman and Client Service Specialist Edie Doudt .

 

 

Julie is a lifelong resident of Delaware County where her family has resided all her life. She has deep roots here as her father, Leon Etchison, owned and operated Twoson Tool Company. The family owned the business until 1989. She is the proud mother of four married children and seven grandchildren who all live in the Muncie area. Julie has 20 years of experience in the non-profit world through the American Red Cross, Hoosier Heartland, which covers 7 counties in East Central Indiana. She has been on numerous assignments and traveled extensively throughout the years both overseas and the continental United States. She has vast experiences working with hundreds of people throughout ECI in service delivery, fund rasing, special events, public speaking, writing and human resource management. She received two National Red Cross awards which are reflective of her impacting career. She is honored to be a part of such a wonderful agency which help so many people. Julie is passionate about helping people in need and mentoring those around her. In her private life, you will find her traveling, spending time with her children and grandchildren, listening to smooth jazz, playing piano, composing songs, and playing cards with her friends.

Denise is a graduate from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Studies with Minors in Computer Applications and Public Health. As “Reaching Out” Breast Health Coordinator, Denise enjoys her time spent with the women she reaches. Denise is also the Muncie Black Expo Health Fair Chairperson for the 5th consecutive year. Helping people has always been a passion of hers since she was young. Denise enjoys singing, acting and hanging out with the youth at her church.

Cheryl L. Mathews
Education/Client Services Coordinator

Cheryl attended University of Florida and received a degree in nursing. After several years in the profession, she left nursing to stay home full time with her children. Today her interest is in health education. She enjoys working one on one with clients and providing educational programs for schools and community events. When not at work, Cheryl enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, reading and "playing in the garden."

ShriVonne Newman
Client Services Advocate

ShriVonne is a graduate from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Studies with an emphasis in Social Work. She is the mother of four and the grandmother of ten. She enjoys crocheting, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. ShriVonne says that she finds her job very rewarding when she’s able to help clients gain knowledge and awareness.
