Education Services

Cancer Services of East Central Indiana – Little Red Door recognizes that education plays an important role in the prevention and early detection of cancer. A variety of educational programs are available upon request.

Breast Self Exam/Testicular Self Exam for Teens – This program for high school health students emphasizes the importance of self-awareness and early detection of breast and testicular cancers. The program uses videos, literature, models and group discussion. Meets criteria mandated by Indiana State law.

“Reaching Out” Breast Health Program – A community partnership facilitated by Cancer Services of ECI – Little Red Door, committed to ensuring that no woman in Delaware County goes without access to vital breast health information and services. This grant funded program provides breast health information, free clinical breast exams and free mammograms to financially qualified women in the community.

Prostate Cancer Support Group – Members provide encouragement for one another and the words “I understand” are often heard. They leave the meetings with the latest information on such topics as nutrition, exercise, intimacy issues and new treatments. The group meets the 3^rd Wednesday of most months.

Tobacco Prevention – Smoke Free Heroes is an elementary school tobacco prevention program, incorporating the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) instructional concepts.

Smoking Cessation – Free community programs are offered twice a year as part of our partnership with the Tobacco Free Coalition of Delaware County. Facilitators are trained in the American Lung Association’s Freedom from Smoking™ and Duke University’s QuitSmart™ programs.

 
Cancer Awareness Presentations – Speakers are available on request to present to community groups on a variety of cancer related topics.

 

National Cancer Survivors Day - The courage and determination of cancer survivors is an inspiration to all. National Cancer Survivors Day is celebrated each year on the first Sunday in June, to honor survivors living with and beyond cancer.
